At Amerasia, we encourage students to grow through sport at the different athletic events held throughout the year. Last Thursday, students in Grades 3 to 5 joined peers from international schools across Qingdao for this year’s QISN Track and Field Meet. Throughout the day, students challenged themselves in a range of running, jumping, and throwing events. They showed determination when an event was difficult, celebrated personal progress, and encouraged teammates and competitors to do their best.
Our MYP 4 and 5 students also played an important role in making the event possible. They helped with setup and cleanup, led activity stations, demonstrated techniques, taught younger students, and cheered them on. When some students felt disappointed about not winning a medal, the MYP students responded with patience and empathy. By taking responsibility and serving as positive role models, they put Amerasia’s values into action. The day showed how sport can develop physical skills, sportsmanship, leadership, and care for others, supporting our mission to nurture courageous global citizens who contribute to a respectful and peaceful world.
