Let the Games Begin – Grades 1 and 5 play learn through games
One of the strongest indicators of academic progress is when students are able to successfully apply their knowledge in new contexts. Grade 5 students have taken what they’ve learned in their
recent unit on energy and have applied it in a most engaging and creative way: through games.
As a part of their Summative Assessment, student groups hand-crafted board games that demonstrated facts and truths about energy. They demonstrated their achievements in front of parents and also invited the Grade 1 class to take part, allowing younger students to learn through play. Students collaborated and knowledge was shared, all while having fun.
