QAIS students take learning beyond the classroom with field trips
QAIS understands how important it is to expose students to real-world experiences, in order to enhance what is taught in the classroom. Field trips are excellent ways to connect life and learning, and when creating daily lessons, teachers often embed these types of outings into their curriculum.
Recently, grade 2 students ventured to a local museum to learn more about the invention of printing. Ms. Jessica Vargas explained, “This is connected to our unit of inquiry ‘Where We Are in Place and Time’ with the central idea focused on inventions and innovations that improve our quality of life.” Students were amazed at the intricacies of the woodblock and movable type printing and how they have impacted the way we see the world.
Furthermore, grade 4 visited February Second Farm to observe the transformation of raw materials into consumable goods. Students were able to make traditional Chinese rolls, bean juice, and tofu. What a delicious way to learn!
