The 2025 PYP Exhibition was a powerful showcase of student agency, transdisciplinary learning, and global awareness. The exhibition, led by Ms. Alyssa Oblefias, Grade 5 Homeroom teacher, guided by PYP Coordinator Ms. Consuelo Ravago, and supported by Grade 5 teachers Ms. Deepa Varghese and Ms. Chloe Fu, reflected months of rigorous inquiry and meaningful action. 

The Exhibition challenges students to explore real-world issues through independent research. This year, the Exhibition was framed under the transdisciplinary theme Sharing the Planet, exploring the central idea: “Sustainable actions help build a just, safe, and thriving world where people, animals, and nature live in harmony.” Students connected their inquiries to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, investigating complex issues such as food waste, air pollution, balanced diets, disease prevention, water scarcity, overfishing, plastic pollution, animal abuse, and deforestation.

The process was rooted in collaboration and mentorship. Under Ms. Oblefias’s guidance, a team of trained mentors supported each student throughout the exhibition cycle. This empowered mentorship structure ensured that every learner received personalized guidance while fostering a strong sense of community ownership over the learning process. 

Students designed a meaningful logo which captured the spirit of unity, responsibility, and sustainability. Each project culminated in a real-world action, allowing students to apply their learning beyond the classroom and contribute meaningfully to the world around them. One of the most moving moments of the event was the debut performance of “Rise and Take Action,” an original song composed and performed by the Grade 5 students—serving as a collective call to care for the planet and act for a better future. It was a celebration not only of learning but of leadership, collaboration, and the power of young people to make a difference.
