HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS
Early Childhood students have embarked on a captivating adventure with their Unit of Inquiry (UOI) themed “Where We Are in Place and Time.” In the EC classroom, children investigate the fascinating world of different types of homes and the environments they reside in, sparking curiosity and wonder. As they explore spaces and facilities in and around buildings, they learn how these determine human use and discover homes such as caves, yurts, boat homes, and the like. Through this, students understand how these structures are thoughtfully adapted to their surroundings and why they are built the way they are. By engaging with hands-on activities and stories, our children explore key concepts like space, structure, and safety in a developmentally appropriate way. They begin to understand how different spaces are used and the importance of sharing these spaces respectfully with others. In art classes students also explored what a home for a birds, sheep or bees might look like. The IB PYP guides young learners on their learning journey, fostering a sense of wonder and connection to the world around them as they explore their place in time and space.
