Design Process: Textiles
Students in Grades 7 and 8 are learning about the design process, and they were joined by Grades 5 and 6 for an exquisite opportunity to see that process in motion! QAIS student Lydia Kong’s parents run an embroidery export company, and they invited our kids to watch how an idea can become a product, all on Friday, November 8th.
The students walked to the HomeTex design office on Hai’er Lu, to view some finished products and to observe the designer engaged in his creative work. After an embroidered sheet had been designed, they took a bus to Chengyang to watch the machines go to work. Within minutes, a sample had been created, and could be evaluated.
