MYP 4 students at Qingdao Amerasia International School recently merged Humanities and Theatre Arts in a powerful interdisciplinary project that delved into historical revolutions. Through a scripted showcase, students vividly brought to life key moments from the French Revolution, the reign of Julius Caesar, the American Civil Rights Movement, and the First Intifada.
This collaboration sought to connect academic exploration with creative expression, allowing students to immerse themselves in the narratives they had studied, transforming historical analysis into a deeply emotional and lived experience. The chosen scenes were not only aligned with the curriculum but also echoed themes that resonate in today’s world, underscoring that the struggles, bravery, and compassion of humanity are threads that continue to weave our collective journey.
With great sensitivity and courage, students embodied their roles, many of which were based on primary sources and eyewitness accounts. The performance paid tribute to those who have fought—and continue to fight—for justice and peace worldwide, from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to the people of Gaza and the West Bank, and countless others whose sacrifices have indelibly shaped history.
