In a dynamic gathering that set the tone for the year, students from Grades 1 to 5 came together for their first monthly assembly, led by the inspiring Dr. Chris Vicari, our Director and new Lower School Principal, and the ever-enthusiastic Mr. Ken Hall, Grade 4 Teacher & Events Coordinator. This assembly was all about engaging hearts, inspiring minds, and empowering young leaders to make a meaningful impact.
The highlight of the morning was a captivating theater piece, “The Starfish of Compassion.” Students watched as an old man observed a young girl tirelessly throwing stranded starfish back into the ocean. When he remarked that she couldn’t possibly make a difference for all of them, she confidently replied, “It made a difference for that one,” reminding everyone that every small act of kindness counts. The story served as a powerful catalyst for students to reflect on how their own actions, no matter how small, can create waves of change.
Building on this theme of individual impact, students were introduced to the guiding principle of R-O-S-E—Respect for Others, Self, and the Environment. This essential agreement will guide our community throughout the year, encouraging every student to strive to be the best possible version of themselves.
Adding to the excitement, the assembly unveiled a wealth of opportunities awaiting students this year in Sports, Athletics, and Mathematics, promising an enriching journey of discovery and growth.
As the assembly concluded, the atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and resolve. Our PYP students are ready to embrace every challenge, extend kindness, and make a difference in their world. Together, we are poised to embark on a year of incredible achievements and unforgettable experiences. Let’s make it happen!
