Early Childhood students recently welcomed parents to celebrate the culmination of their unit, “How We Express Ourselves.” This unit explored the central idea that feelings and emotions significantly affect how we interact and communicate with the world around us. Students delved into various emotions such as happiness, sadness, excitement, frustration, and fear, gaining insight into how these emotions influence their behavior, relationships, and decision-making processes. They practiced recognizing their feelings and pausing to think before acting, promoting thoughtful decision-making. Each age group focused on specific themes: PreK 1 explored “My Emotions,” PreK 2 examined “Emotions and Actions,” and Kindergarten delved into “Think, Feel, Act.” Through these explorations, students gained emotional awareness and confidence in expressing their feelings, learned to apply strategies for regulating emotions, and handled challenging situations with calmness. They also developed Grace and Courtesy skills, fostering a positive and respectful classroom community. As a result, our young learners are becoming independent thinkers who make thoughtful choices and consider diverse perspectives when responding to emotions.
