PYPx 2026: Young Changemakers

The PYP Exhibition is a landmark milestone for Grade 5 students at Qingdao Amerasia International School, representing a culmination of inquiry, student agency, and meaningful action. This year, our students explored pressing global issues through the lens of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, showcasing remarkable empathy and international-mindedness. We are incredibly proud of the dedication and creativity they brought to this journey, and we extend our gratitude to Ms. Alyssa Oblefias, Ms. Judy Li, and Mr. Joe Ackland for guiding them toward such an exceptional standard of excellence.

The PYP Exhibition 2026 reminded us all that young learners truly have the power to help light the world.

Jason researched child poverty, Annie explored hunger and poverty, Alex J. investigated child labor, and Qusay focused on poverty following natural disasters; Laura researched non-communicable diseases, while Vincent examined lack of access to healthcare; Ria explored gender equality and equal access to education.

Environmental protection and sustainable development were also a major research focus this year: Ethan investigated water conservation; Regen and Jason G. explored clean water and sanitation; Max studied ocean acidification; Christina focused on coral bleaching and rising ocean temperatures; Albert, Ryan Qiao, Melvin, Ryan, Milana, and Claire formed groups to investigate various types of water pollution.

Students also demonstrated compassion and advocacy through their inquiries into animal welfare and conservation. Giada researched the hunting of animals, Wilbur explored endangered African wild dogs, Alex investigated poaching, Queenie and Joyous focused on endangered red pandas, and Tia examined animal abuse and ethical treatment of animals.
