MYP4/5 Chinese A class brought their argumentative writing unit to life through a class debate on the motion: “The more advanced technology becomes, the happier humans are.”
All students took on active roles as debaters, support teams, moderators, and timekeepers, engaging in a thoughtful exploration of technology and human wellbeing. Building on their study of Liu Cixin and other contemporary thinkers, students applied skills in argumentation, evidence, and rebuttal in a dynamic, real-time setting.
The debate highlighted strong critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Students also connected their ideas to global issues, including mental health in the digital age and the ethics of artificial intelligence.
