PHOENIX RISES! Amerasia Athletes Ignite the Season

Last week heralded a powerful and exhilarating start to the school sports season at Amerasia, packed with electrifying events that underscored the athletes’ unwavering dedication and passion. Our U14 Football Teams and U19 Volleyball Teams took to the field and court for their first friendly matches, setting the tone for an exciting season ahead.

The QAIS girls’ teams had an inspiring start to their seasons. Coach Miao shared that the girls’ soccer players demonstrated remarkable fighting spirit in their first match. Even though many were new to soccer training and unfamiliar with the pace of the game, they never gave up and consistently gave their best effort. Meanwhile, Coach G noted that the U19 girls’ volleyball team showed great spirit in their first friendly of the season against QISS. With six new players joining four returning teammates, led by captain Ayumi and co-captain Karen, the team is already beginning to find its rhythm. It was also Coach Miao and Coach Azizi’s first match as Phoenix coaches, and their positive attitude helped create a friendly and fun atmosphere. Coach Kimi highlighted a memorable moment when Coach Azizi gathered both teams into one big circle after the match, encouraging them to compliment each other for a hard-fought game—a great way to end the day.

Amerasia athletes exemplified the 5 Golden Rules of Sportsmanship: 1) Play Fair and Respect the Game, 2) Be a Team Player and Include Everyone, 3) Stay Positive in Speech, Gestures, and Actions—ROOT FOR YOUR SCHOOL! 4) Win with Class, and 5) Lose Gracefully. These principles are the backbone of Amerasia’s sports and athletics program, cultivating dedication, discipline, and resilience in our students—not just to tackle challenges on the field, but to approach life’s hurdles with confidence and grace.

The true value of our program lies in nurturing young individuals who understand that victory is about more than the score. Whether facing triumph or defeat, our athletes are embraced by the unwavering support of their friends, families, and the QAIS community. The heart of competition lies in the efforts and character displayed before, during, and after the match—these are the lessons that endure.

As the Phoenix rises, so too do our athletes, emboldened with the spirit of sportsmanship and community. Together, we embark on a season of growth, camaraderie, and triumphs that reach far beyond the games. Let’s soar, Amerasia!
