Qingdao Amerasia International School aims to inspire a lifelong love of learning in students ages 18 months to 18 years. We are the first IB World School in Shandong Province, offering the full IB Continuum of PYP, MYP, and DP. The city’s downtown area spreads 30km along the coast, dotted with beaches, all fully accessible by boardwalk. Qingdao hosted the Sailing Regatta during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, as well as regular international and regional sailing events.
Qingdao has a thriving economy, home to one of Asia’s largest shipping ports, the world’s biggest manufacturer of home appliances (Haier), and China’s most famous beer brand (Tsingtao). It is routinely selected as one of Asia’s top three ‘Most Livable Cities’ in expat surveys. There are international eateries, groceries, cinemas, beaches, parks, and other entertainment within 1km of the school. The cost of living is significantly lower than in cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
QAIS is located less than 1km from the beach, about 5km from downtown, and 30 minutes drive from Laoshan Natural Reserve. Each class has one foreign teacher (native English speaker) and one Chinese teacher. All teachers are AMI- or AMS-credentialed. Our administrators also have Montessori credentials, with many years of experience in public and private schools in the US.
